Hopelight uses pure Teflon (PTFE) powder, and the processed film is coated with organic silica adhesive to form a PTFE film tape. With PTFE film as the base material, teflon film tape has all the characteristics of fluororesin, and has excellent flexibility and surface smoothness. Moreover, this heat resistant Teflon tape also has the advantages of voltage resistance and breakdown voltage, and can be used for capacitor media, electrical meters, and gaskets.

Benefits of Using PTFE Skived Film Tape

Excellent Leak Sealing

PTFE tape provides an effective seal for threaded connections, preventing leaks in water, gas, or air systems. Its stretchable and durable properties ensure a tight fit, making it ideal for both household plumbing and industrial applications.

Chemical and Temperature Resistance

Resistant to chemicals and extreme temperatures, PTFE skived film tape performs reliably in harsh environments. It withstands exposure to acids, bases, and solvents, as well as temperatures ranging from -200°C to +260°C, making it suitable for demanding applications.

Ease of Application

Lightweight, flexible, and easy to handle, PTFE skived film tape simplifies sealing tasks. It is quickly applied by wrapping around threaded pipe fittings, providing an efficient, mess-free alternative to liquid sealants or other sealing materials.

Non-Stick and Anti-Seize Properties

PTFE film adhesive tape prevents threaded connections from sticking or seizing over time, allowing for easy disassembly. This is particularly useful for maintenance and repairs, saving time and effort during part replacements.

Corrosion Protection

By creating a barrier between metal threads, PTFE film adhesive tape reduces friction and minimizes the risk of corrosion. This protective layer extends the lifespan of fittings and ensures smooth, reliable connections in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Application Of PTFE Skived Tape

  • Sealing machine heating strip

    Use on the heating strip of the sealing machine to prevent the pockets from melting and sticking to the machine;

  • Bag making machine shaft cylinder

    PTFE film tape can be insulated when used on hot objects to prevent the products from sticking together when heated;

  • Wire insulation

    Used for insulation protection of wires, cables and coils;

  • Temperature resistance and anti-sticking

    PTFE film tape can be directly pasted on various large planes and regular curved surfaces for temperature-resistant and anti-sticking use.

Features Of PTFE Film Tape

  • Excellent insulation

  • Continuous high temperature resistance

  • Anti-light and anti-oxidation

  • Smooth and corrosion resistant

Is PTFE tape same as Teflon tape?

Yes, PTFE tape and Teflon tape refer to the same type of product, but there is a technical distinction between the terms. PTFE tape stands for Polytetrafluoroethylene tape, which is the generic name for a non-stick, heat-resistant material widely used in sealing threaded pipe connections to prevent leaks.

Teflon tape, on the other hand, is a branded term. "Teflon" is a registered trademark of Chemours (formerly DuPont), which developed and patented PTFE. While all Teflon adhesive film tape is made from PTFE, not all PTFE tapes can be called Teflon tape unless manufactured by, or under license from, Chemours. Functionally, both terms are often used interchangeably in the plumbing and industrial sectors, but the distinction lies in branding.

FAQs about PTFE Tape

  • Is PTFE tape suitable for gas fittings?

    Yes, there are specific types of PTFE skived film tape designed for use in gas fittings. These tapes meet industry standards for sealing gas pipe connections safely and effectively.

  • How long does PTFE tape last?

    PTFE film tape is highly durable and does not degrade easily. When used in the correct applications, it can last for many years without needing replacement.

  • Is PTFE film tape waterproof?

    Yes, PTFE film tape is waterproof and provides an effective seal against water leaks. It is commonly used in plumbing systems to ensure a tight and water-resistant connection.
